Bar/Bat Mitzvah Family Adventure – Tentative Itinerary

Day 1: December 21-Welcome- !ברוכים הבאים

  • 9:00am Pick up at the airport
  • We start the day at the Ne’ot Kedumim Biblical Landscape Reserve where we will have an opening ceremony, plant a tree, try our hand at sheep herding and deepen our understanding of the Land of Israel during the time of our ancestors. Includes lunch
  • Learn about the iconic first Prime Minister of Israel and his humble post-political life in the Negev at Ben Gurion’s desert home through their interactive new exhibit
  • Drive to Mitspe Ramon, the desert town on the edge of Machtesh Ramon- the only crater of its kind in the world
  • Check in and dinner at the hotel
  • Detailed orientation at hotel

Day 2: December 22- The Beauty of the South

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Enjoy an exciting Jeep ride in the unique Ramon Crater, and experience some spiritual solo time in the Desert
  • Packed lunch
  • Hike in the picturesque Ein Avdat Canyon
  • Return to hotel to prepare for Shabbat
  • Candle lighting: 4:24 pm
  • Tfilah in a local Sepahradi synagogue
  • Shabbat dinner and Kumzits at the Kibbutz

Overnight: Pundak Ramon, Mitspe Ramon


Day 3: December 23- Shabbat in Mitspe Ramon

  • Tfilah at the hotel
  • Group lunch at hotel
  • Walk along the edge of the crater and explore the musical sculpture garden set up along the rim.
  • Time for rest and relaxation and swimming in the heated indoor pool
  • Havdalah: 5:26 pm
  • Stargazing in the desert

Day 4: December 24- The Realization of Ben Gurion’s Dream

  • Breakfast and check out of hotel
  • Visit the inspiring new Ramon Crater Visitors Center
  • Pay respects to one of Israel’s biggest visionaries at Ben Gurion’s grave
  • Lunch on own in Sde Boker
  • Pick and taste you way through the Shvil Hasalat Agricultural museum
  • Drive to Jerusalem and stop at a beautiful lookout over the city
  • Check in and dinner at hotel

Day 5: December 25- Bnei Mitzvah in Jerusalem- מזל טוב!

  • Breakfast at hotel
  • Pray and celebrate B’nei Mitzvah at Robinson’s Arch with family and friends.

Parshat Hashavuah: Parshat Vayechi

  • Visit the Davidson Center and learn about Jerusalem in her Glory
  • Personal time at the Kotel
  • Celebratory brunch in the old city
  • Free time in the Jewish quarter for shopping
  • Tour the Kotel Tunnels
  • Free time in later afternoon/evening at Ben Yehuda including dinner on own (good time to meet with family/friends. Free from about 5:00 pm)
  • Drive back to hotel around 8:30 pm

Day 6: December 26 Masada: The Ultimate Question מצדה

  • Early Breakfast
  • Early Departure from hotel
  • Short camel ride at Eretz Bereshit
  • Ascend Masada by cable car and learn about the heroes of the era
  • Lunch, Swim and relax at the Dead Sea at Chamei Ein Gedi
  • Drive back to Jerusalem
  • Dinner at hotel
  • Pool and Gym open until 22:00

Day 7: December 27- יזכור, Remember

  • Breakfast at Hotel and check out
  • Tour Yad Vashem Holocaust museum /Zoo alternative for children with Ramah family educator (Madricha)
  • Get your hands dirty while Experiencing what it is like to be an Archeologists at the Dig for a Day Archeological seminars program at Bet Guvrin National park
  • Drive to Tel Aviv
  • Check in and Dinner at Hotel

Overnight: Metropolitan Suites, Tel Aviv


Day 8: December 28- Israel: The Start up Nation

  • Breakfast at hotel
  • Visit Independence hall where the State of Israel was declared
  • Learn about Israel as a Start up Nation through the il Scavenger hunt in down town Tel Aviv
  • Lunch on own on the hip Rothschild Boulevard
  • Visit Rabin Square, the site of the assassination of the Israeli Prime minister, as well as many demonstrations, concerts and festivals today
  • Learn about Israel and the Olympics at the Olympic Experience museum
  • Free night out and dinner on own in Tel Aviv (good time to meet with family/friends. Free from about 5:30 pm)

Day 9: December 29- Tel Aviv: The First Hebrew City

  • Breakfast and Check out of hotel
  • Tour of Old Jaffa: one of the oldest, continually- settled port cities in the world
  • Shop and eat lunch at the Nachalat Binyamin artists market
  • Drive to Jerusalem, check in to hotel and prepare for Shabbat
  • Candle lighting: 16:04
  • Kabbalat Shabbat at the Kotel
  • Shabbat dinner at the hotel, possible with lone soldiers
  • Oneg Shabbat at hotel

Overnight:  King Solomon, Jerusalem


Day 10: December 30- Shabbat in Jerusalem שבת שלום!

  • Breakfast at hotel
  • Attend tfilot at a choice of local synagogues
  • Lunch at hotel
  • Rest time and activities for children with Ramah family educator
  • Walking tour of local sites with tour guide ending at Migdal David
  • Havdalah: 17:22
  • Dinner on own and free evening (good time to meet with family/friends. Free from about 5:30 pm)

Day 11: December 31- תיקון עולם Giving back

  • Musical Tfillah at the Tayelet (Haas promenade) with a beautiful lookout over Jerusalem
  • Enjoy a hands on Volunteer experience at Pantry Packers, which provides packaged food to thousands of people every day
  • Walk around Har Herzl and learn about some of the leaders of our nation, including Shimon Peres z”l
  • Visit the Holon Children’s Museum where the teens and adults will participate in the “Dialogue in the Dark” exhibit while the children take part in the “At Eyes Height” exhibit
  • Sum up session
  • Final Dinner at Maganda
  • Drive to airport
